Account Deletion Instructions

This guide describes the practical steps relating to erasure under Article 17 of the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council) and data retention after the account ends. The guide applies uniformly to the Android, iOS and web interfaces of Mesegép. The full data processing notice is available in the Privacy Notice.
1. Deleting the account in the application
If the User has access to the email address associated with their account, they can initiate account deletion in the web application, without reinstalling:
- Open https://app.mesegep.hu/.
- Enter the email address associated with your account and request a login link.
- Open the link received by email on the same device.
- After logging in, open the Profile and account screen.
- Select the Delete account action, then confirm.
2. What account deletion deletes and what it does not
Account deletion deletes:
- the account;
- the associated active sessions and tokens;
- the current household membership.
Account deletion also automatically withdraws the publication of that account's public stories and playlists from the public catalogue.
If the User is the only member of a household they own, account deletion continues only after a separate acknowledgement. In that case, deleting the account also deletes the whole household: household device records, private stories, playlists and related household data; public shares from that household are withdrawn.
In other cases, account deletion does not automatically delete household content, uploaded or recorded audio and private playlists merely because an account has been deleted. These must be deleted separately by the authorised household user.
Account deletion does not erase data already stored on a physical Mesegép device. To remove local device data, decommission or factory-reset the device first.
If household content is deleted separately, the media URLs immediately stop working, and the retained media is permanently deleted after 45 days.
3. Retention after deletion
Data may still remain for a limited period in backups, system logs, error reports and technical data, for the security and operation of the Service or to comply with a legal obligation. The current default retention is: backup up to 99 days, crash log up to 395 days.
After account deletion, the Controller – for legal reasons, and in order to handle matters relating to copyright, abuse prevention and child protection – may retain a minimal moderation record (display name and email address) linked to existing reports and moderation actions.
4. If the User cannot log in
Write to privacy@mesegep.hu from the email address to which the Mesegép account belongs. If you write from a different address, the Controller may request further identification in order to prevent deletion on someone else's behalf.
The Controller responds to deletion and other privacy requests generally within 30 days. For complex or numerous requests this deadline may be extended under Article 12(3) of the GDPR, of which the Controller will provide separate information.
